Prof. Bruno Kelly

He began his career in the late 1980s in the financial market, working at Criterium DTVM with stock market and fixed-income investments. A Business Administrator with an MBA in Risk Management from the Universidade Federal Fluminense (UFF), he has more than 30 years of experience in insurance, claims regulation, risk analysis, and risk management consulting.

He has been a licensed insurance broker with Brazil’s Superintendency of Private Insurance (SUSEP) since 1991. He holds solid technical training, including Underwriting, Property & Liability, and Claims courses from the American Institute for Chartered Property Casualty Underwriters (AICPCU) and the Insurance Institute of America (IIA), in Malvern, Pennsylvania, as well as a specialization in General Liability from the Escola Nacional de Seguros (formerly Funenseg).

Since 2004, he has served as a professor at the Escola de Negócios e Seguros, teaching technical, undergraduate, and MBA courses. As a speaker, he has given more than 1,000 presentations on insurance and finance in over 200 cities, reaching every Brazilian state.

He is a partner at the CORRECTA Group, where he works across different segments of the insurance market, in technical, commercial, advisory, and risk management roles.

He also holds a permanent seat on the Executive Board of the Centro Brasileiro de Engenharia de Risco e Tecnologia de Incêndio (CBERTI), an institution that disseminates knowledge, practices, and technical references related to the National Fire Protection Association (NFPA) in Brazil.

Prof. Gustavo Cunha Mello, M.Sc.

He began his career in the late 1980s at KPMG, working in auditing and consulting. He has more than 30 years of experience in insurance, claims regulation, risk analysis, and risk management consulting.

An economist with an MBA in Risk Management and a postgraduate degree in Planning Engineering from COPPE/UFRJ, as well as a Master’s degree in Production Engineering, with an emphasis on Management Systems, from LATEC/UFF. He holds several technical certifications, notably as an Insurance Broker, licensed by SUSEP since 1991, as well as in Flight Safety and Aviation Claims, both from NVTEC-CENIPA in 2004, and in Fire Dynamics in 2016.

Since 2000, he has been a professor at the Escola de Negócios e Seguros (formerly Funenseg), teaching technical, undergraduate, and MBA courses. He also teaches in postgraduate and MBA programs at PUC, UFF, and IBMEC, in subjects related to risk management, insurance, and project management.

As a speaker, he has given more than 1,000 presentations on risk management in over 200 cities, covering every Brazilian state. He is a partner at the CORRECTA Group, where he works in insurance and risk management consulting.

He has taken part in setting up and running Risk Management Committees for major organizations, including Rede D’Or São Luiz (the largest hospital group in Latin America), Grupo Soma (owner of the Animale, Farm, and Maria Filó brands, among others), Nortec Química (the largest producer of active pharmaceutical ingredients — APIs — in Latin America), Logum Logística (the largest private fuel distributor), Profarma (one of the largest pharmaceutical groups, owner of the Drogasmil, Farmalife, Tamoio, and Rosário chains), Ancar (one of Brazil’s largest shopping center groups), among several other equally special companies.

He is a member of committees and institutes linked to ABNT (the Brazilian technical standards body), the Instituto Brasileiro de Executivos de Finanças (IBEF), and the Academia Nacional de Seguros e Previdência (ANSP). He has international insurance training from the American Institute for Chartered Property Casualty Underwriters and the Insurance Institute of America, in Malvern, Pennsylvania, as well as reinsurance courses completed in the Lloyd’s of London market through the Chartered Insurance Institute (CII).

Since 2006, he has worked as a columnist, commentator, and specialized source for various media outlets covering insurance, risk management, accident prevention, and analysis of major incidents. Outlets he regularly contributes to include Rádio CBN, GloboNews, BandNews TV, and BandNews FM.

Throughout his career, he has taken part in analyzing and following up on numerous highly complex claims, including aviation and industrial accidents, fires, explosions, floods, and other events involving companies of different sizes and sectors of the economy.

He specializes in computer simulation of fires, smoke propagation, and building evacuation, using tools such as the Fire Dynamics Simulator (FDS), developed by the National Institute of Standards and Technology (NIST) and widely used in fire safety engineering studies.

He also has extensive experience implementing and applying technical standards for risk management, occupational safety, business continuity, crisis management, and emergency preparedness, including ISO 31000 (Risk Management), ISO 45001 (Occupational Health and Safety Management Systems), ISO 22301 (Business Continuity), and ABNT NBR 15219 (Fire Emergency Plans), among other standards aimed at preventing, preparing for, and responding to accidents and crisis situations.
